What to do with a week in Palawan

I’m a solo backpacker and am thinking about spending next week in Palawan.

Can anyone give me some tips of the best ways to spend my time and good hostles etc.

It would be good to be somewhere social for at least part of it to meet people.

I’d also like to spend some of my time doing something a bit more cultural. I love island hoping and all the rest of it but something to mix it up too would be good.

OK, if you stay in Puerto Princesa sounds like Sheebangs is the place for you--- lots of travelers, good food, music and a bar, although it is not in the best location in town. It is run by friendly staff and there are motorbikes for rent and a travel desk.

With only 7 days in Palawan i would either head for busy and beautiful El Nido or Port Barton.

El Nido --- more expensive, island hopping, cliff climbing butt the beach in town is no good for swimming due to boats and pollution.

Popular GH in El Nido, but only met the Aussie owner, i have never been there---https://www.tripadvisor.com.ph/Hotel_Review-g294256-d12035990-Reviews-Bamboo_Billabong_Hostel-El_Nido_Palawan_Island_Palawan_Province_Mimaropa.html

Port Barton is 150 kms from PPC and has bungalows along the beach which is safe for swimming. Also island hopping and snorkeling trips, walk to waterfall.

In P Barton i like to rent a bungalow at Ausan's, although there are plenty to choose from.
