Where to stay in Singapore

Hello Everyone, We are planning to visit Singapore in December with our 23months old boy. I am thinking to go to Sentosa island than main land so that he might have fun but no idea if that is going to be ideal since he is under 2 year olds. Any advise or suggestion or information would be greatly appreciated!

Budget per night is more likely to decide "where" you stay. There are no budget hotels on Sentosa, plus unless you specifically want a spa type holiday, there is no real advantage to staying on the island of Sentosa. Please state your budget in Singapore dollars for any guidance you might wish to have regarding hotels.

Hello and welcome to TA forums!

For precise hotel recommendations please specify your budget per room per night in SGD?

Hi,

Your son can have fun on Sentosa while staying on the mainland too. Sentosa is only about 20-25 minutes taxi ride away the city centre. However, as Sentosa is an island resort, generally things - accommodation, F&B, etc- are more expensive there.

So to your question of where to stay, it will depend on your budget/ room/night. Tell us your budget and we will gladly recommend a few hotels for you to check out.

Cheers!

Sentosa ( a small island) is just 400 meters from the city, you need 10-15 min to get from one island to another on foot. Stay in the city center is an advantage in terms of:

@@ wider choice of accommodation options, and cheaper too

@@ better proximity to sights

@@ easier connection to/ from airport

@@ nightlife

@@ shopping

@@ food/ bar/ restaurant options

@@ better transport connectivity

For hotel residing in Sentosa island, it should cost you around SGD 500-1000, depending on the luxury level of stay

For main land hotels, it should be from the range of SGD 300-500, which is almost half of the price as compared to Sentosa island :)

You may want to just spend a night stay on the island, and make full use of the time there with your kid, by visiting universal studio etc. Then to spend the rest of your trip on main land. And explore around the other parts of Singapore.

Enjoy!

An almost 2-year-old child will be content with having space to run around and play with water like a playground, a water play area or a shallow swimming pool. So the choice of where to stay is really more dependent on what the adult intends to do.

Hotels on the main island range from under S$100 to upwards of S$600 per night.

2-stars are around S$70-120 (very small room and small bathroom, toilet and shower not separate so bathroom floor gets wet after shower)

3-stars $120-180 (Small room and small bathroom unless they are older properties. May or may not have swimming pool)

4-stars start from $180

5-stars start from low S$200s

Festive Hotel on Sentosa is quite family friendly and falls in the $300 range.

Thank you very much for your response guys! Sounds like it might be better to stay on mainland and do a day trip to Sentosa?

My Budget is S$200-S$300 per night. If you guys recommend to the mainland then which area would be more good to stay to explore Singapore. I prefer to travel on Train then taxi so any suggestion if we stay on the mainland then which suburb or place or any hotel that is more family oriented. Will there be any special event going on this time of the year or any website that mention about any even happening during the year in Singapore that would help me a lot?

Looking forward to hearing from you guys.

Hi again,

December is Christmas. It's a bit early to tell you about events as details have not been released yet but there will be the annual Christmas light up at Orchard Road. And Gardens By The Bay usually have Christmas Wonderland.

For hotel, have a look at the following:

Fairmont

Rendezvous

Carlton

One Farrer
