Changing money Clarke Quay area

Hello

We are currently staying at the Swissotel Merchant Court, please would anyone know if there are any money changers close to the hotel. We found one in Riverside Point but the rate is 1.73 considerably less than we got earlier at the airport, the hotel is only 1.64.

I am aware that there are places in Chinatown such as People's Park Complex, but we didn't particularly want to go to Chinatown in the morning before going out as we would no know what time they open.

Would be really grateful if anyone can help.

We are planning to go to the Gardens by the Bay area tomorrow, is there anywhere around this area to change money? (hopefully at a better rate).

Many thanks

There is a money changer in the basement of the mall next to your hotel ( Clark Quay Central).

The XE rate today is 1.76, so there isn't much margin for going up and the pound has weakened 2-3 cents over the last week - so if you got say 1.76 at the airport whe you arrived that's reflecting the currency rates today.

You see this is Singapore far more than the UK because their margins are sooo much narrower they have to change prices much more with small fluctuations.

You could just use an ATM, you won't be far off the best moneychangers that way. Bear in mind that too much time or even MRT level fares to find a changer just sucks the difference out of rate benefits.

If you are going to Gardens by the Bay you could get the MRT to City Hall, use one of the 2 or 3 changers in Raffles City Mall or Suntec as you walk along the waterfront to the Helix bridge and cross - or just go to Bayfront and take a look in the Shoppes mall attached to MBS - Far East Exchange are based there on L1 and B1 and have a decent reputation.

Thank you Mankster, oops my mistake, was meant to say Central Point and not Riverside Point.

Thank you myrm, will have a look at Shoppes Mall tomorrow, think that will the easiest for Gardens by the Bay.

Its easy because Bayfront serves both the mall and the Gardens.

I mentioned the Raffles City/Suntec only because it would work if you chose to do the walk and see the sights along the way and it falls into the easy bracket because its an easier and quicker MRT ride from Clarke Quay than to Bayfront

You are not far from Raffles Place (10 minutes walk). There is a building call "The Arcade" that has a lot of money changers in it. These shops tend to provide better rates because of the competition there.

Hi

Plaza Central, right across Swiss MC front door, has a money changer on the ground level.
