Purchasing iPad or tablet

Hi There

I was thinking of looking for an iPad or tablet whilst in Singapore. What's the price comparison compared to Britain prices please?

Do I need to declare at customs for an iPad? Sorry if a silly question.

Anywhere in particular I should go to look for one anybody can recommend?

Thanks

The authorized dealers set the market price, so you won't find parallel importers (legal here) bringing in latest models to sell them cheaper.

With the pound being worth what it is, the days of Singapore be great for electronics, watches and jewellery have long gone, sadly.

The last three times we checked out Apple tech of various kinds it broke out even..lsometimes a few quid saved occasionally a few quid more expensive as the currency rate changes. The currency rate has dipped since the last thread.

The only way you can generally save significant money is to buy and be aboe to recover GST and then the tech item in question be below the import limit for the UK (around 350quid) so you can avoid paying VAT on entry.

If Simgapore has a sale on a specific item you want then you can do more but that means knowing the price and again saving GST and not having to pay VAT makes a difference.

Not forgetting when you return to the UK, "gifts", up to the value of £390, anything over that and you will pay "import tax", if any single item is worth more than that, you will be taxed on its full value, not just the difference.

FYI, any "high value" items you travel with, it's always a good Idea to take "proof of purchase" in the U.K. With you.

Life1914, hello

Together with the fact the Apple products prices are pretty unified around the globe, I'd suggest to buy at home country.
