Suggestions required for Singapore 7 days trip

Hi,

I am travelling to Singapore for 7 days along with my husband and 2 kids (7 years and 5 years old) in April 2018. We will be staying in Bugis. We are planning to use public transport (MRT).

We are planning for the below itinerary -

Day1 - Reach Singapore airport by 8:30AM. Hotel check-in by 2PM. Evening 4PM onwards - Clarke Quay and River Cruise (7PM - 7:40 PM). 15 mins light show at 9PM Marina Bay.

Day2 - Botanical garden (Morning 8:30 AM - ?).

Day3 - Santosa (Full day)

Day4 - Universal Studio (Full day). Planning for Saturday (due to special attractions/shows) + express pass

Day 5 - Gardens by the Bay, Merlion, Flyer, Marina Bay (Planning for Sunday due to laser show in front of Marina Bay Sands hotel)

Day 6 - Zoo (8:30 AM - 5 PM)

Day 7 - Bird Park (8:30 AM - 4 PM)

We are flying back to our country on day 7 night around 8PM.

It's our first family foreign trip and I want everyone to enjoy it the maximum (specially kids). So could you please review and help me with your suggestions.

Thanks a lot.

You have quite a bit of time before check in. You can explore Arab Street, Haji Lane and Kampong Glam. The light show on Day 1 and Day 5 appear to be the same - Spectra. It happens every day. Are you trying to watch it from a different vantage point? The other light show Garden Rhapsody is at Gardens By The Bay.

You can squeeze all the Marina Bay attractions into Day 1 (let's leave out Clarke Quay for now), thereby freeing up all of Day 5.

Bugis is a very propitious location because both Bayfront MRT (GBTB) & Raffles Place MRT (near Merlion Park) are 2 stops away from Bugis MRT, albeit on different train lines (Downtown Line & East West Line respectively).

As such, I suggest this sequence: drop-off luggage, GBTB (morning), lunch/check-in/rest, Merlion Park (4pm), river cruise (board at Fullerton jetty), dinner (alight at Esplanade jetty to eat at Gluttons Bay), Helix Bridge (sundown), both light shows.

For Day 2, Botanic Gardens can be completed by late morning to noon, depending on the humidity. Orchard Road is not far away, & its many malls stir awake at 10-11am. You have the rest of the day free.

Day 3, 4 & 6 are doable.

For Day 5, I suggest Bird Park (till 3pm), Chinatown (rest of afternoon), Clarke Quay (chilli crabs + nightlife). In turn, Day 7 is freed up.

2 points to note:

- Singapore Flyer is grounded indefinitely. It broke down on Jan 25, announced that it identified the technical cause on Feb 9, but hasn't updated since. It may not be operational by the time of your April trip. If it is, you can alight at Promenade jetty & eat dinner at the Flyer.

- Monitor the MRT maintenance updates. The April timetable isn't released yet, but if it's anything like the ongoing schedules, there will be changes to operating hours on certain train lines (eg. 10:30pm or 11pm early closures on weekdays; 8am delayed openings or full-day closures on weekends) that may interfere with your commuting plans.

There are playground areas at Vivocity which you can check out. http://www.vivocity.com.sg/kidsfun

Sentosa - water play area at Palawan Pirate Ship

Singapore Botanic Gardens - Jacob Ballas Children Garden.

Gardens By The Bay - the water play area at Far East Organisation Children's Garden

Suntec City - Your children may enjoy visiting the Fountain of Wealth, the largest water fountain in the world. https://sunteccity.com.sg/attractions/

You can combine the Zoo with River Safari. It is small enough. Some visitors have said they enjoy the Amazon River Quest (min height 1.06m) and you can see the Giant Pandas. The zoo also has a waterplay area so bring towels and wetsuits.

Thanks a lot for your valuable suggestions. Ours is overnight flight; so we may not want to put too many things for day1.

Further I need few suggestion -

1. Is it advisable to add Marina Barrage to day 1 along with Merlion Park?

2. What's the name of 2 light show? Is it Garden Rhapsody and Spectra. Does they both happens every day and also are they nearby?

3. Should I add Suntec City mall along with Botanic garden?

4.Can River safari (Giant Pandas) be done along with Garden by the bay?

Thanks a lot for your time.

1. Marina Barrage is easier to get to by taxi. The kites there are expensive. You may want to bring your own kites or have a picnic there.

2. Yes. They are nightly shows and you can refer to their show times on the official websites. They are nearby but you need to allow time (40-50 mins) to walk from one to the other and to find seats, especially if you are with kids as you won't be moving fast.

3. Yes, it is possible.

4. It is better to do it with the zoo as the two are next to each other.

You may want to consider taking the amphibious DUCK Tour which starts from Suntec City. Your kids will probably enjoy it.

Cool Thanks. Will check that too. Also please suggest whether it's cost effective to travel by MRT (since we are 2 adults and 2 children)?

With 4 pax travelling together taxi is more cost effective than mrt, especially on short distances.
