Cotton fabric for quilting

I wonder if there are quilters out there who might be able to help me? I am going to Singapore next week. A friend here in Canada ask me to get her some 100% cotton fabric for her quilting projects.

Is there a particular place (besides People's Park complex) which specialise in 100% cotton fabric?

I am going to post this in KL & Penang too as I will also be going there.

Thanks

Hi,

You can try Spotlight at Plaza Singapura and also another shop in Tanglin Mall. I think the latter is called Calico and Quilts or something like that...

People's Park Complex is also good but make sure you wash the fabric before you do anything, in case the colour runs or it shrinks. You never know with fabrics from China!

Good Luck.

Thanks Jade_du_asia,

I shall add Plaza Singapura & Tanglin Mall to the list of places I will be visiting. You are right, cotton tend to shrink when washed so that was a good reminder to soak it first before using.

There are 3 People's Park in Singapore and they are in the same area ( Old People's Park, People's Park Complex and People's Park Centre). Not sure whether People's Park Complex do sell any fabric but Old People's Park have, it is on the 2nd level. There are lots of shops selling different types of fabric. It has lots of food stalls on the ground floor. There is an OG shopping centre next to it.

3 People's Park eh? I thought there was only one. I am going to have a ball shopping. Thanks Iris5459.

Someone else told me that Redhill market has some 'transient' stalls selling fabric too and it is only on Sundays. Apparently, they are like 'makeshift' stores and they have very good prices. Anybody knows anything about this? Is it in most HDB housing estates' market or just restricted to Redhill?

Old People's Park and People's Park Complex is just next to each other. People's Park Centre is opposite OG, you have to either use the overhead bridge near to the Old People's Park (the one that have a lot of food stalls at the ground floor and also next to OG where there's a taxi stand) or use the traffic light. If you use the overhead bridge at the People's Park Complex, it'll lead you to Chinatown.

If you are in a rush, I'll skip Redhill or any of the housing estates. Everything that can be found in the housing estates can most certainly be found in People's Park.

Just to confirm that yes, there is a "quilting" shop in Tanglin Mall, 3rd floor, near the Thai restaurant called Patara (yummilicious, btw).
