Seeking help from fellow trip advisors on Panama.

Hello,

My fiancé and I will be visiting Panama in the last 2 weeks of December as a pre-retirement visit. We would love to see as much of the country as possible without spending the entire time in the car. We would like to explore the beaches scuba diving/snorkeling, mountains for hiking and immerse ourselves in the culture.

We will be flying to Panama City and plan on doing some driving. Any suggestions on which area we should explore first and to loop back to Panama City.

How difficult is it to book flights when in the country? Any referrals to any travel agencies in Panama? We are also looking to stay at moderate priced, simple accommodations on the areas we should visitIs. Is there anything we should see in the south of the country?

Any feedback will greatly help my planning stages.

Early December usually isn't too bad for making reservations and booking flights. Since there is now only one regional/country wide airline -- Air Panama -- I would recommend booking your flights ahead of time. You can do this on-line, up to 60 days in advance.

I have never used a travel agent in Panama. Why don't you give us some tentative locations you're thinking about visiting, and we'll give you our recommendations on transportation, lodging and restaurants?
