Where to stay in Dubrovnik? - First time

Hi,

We are planning to visit Dubrovnik in August last week.

We are looking for peaceful, easily accessible by public transport and reasonable place to stay.

Request you to guide me for location for stay.

Will it be very crowded if we stay in old town?

For me the old town would be too crowded in August. Ploce or Lapad would be better. Ploce you can walk to the old town and some places have good views of the old town. Lapad is a bit greener and cooler. You'd need to get the bus to the old town.

If you don’t mind some stairs then the Ploce area would be nice....great views and no public transport needed. We stayed in an apartment at the base of Lovrijenac which was easier for my father to get back to from the Old Town and it was also nice and close, without the views. Lapad would get you away from all the craziness but also entails a bus ride and sometimes the buses are jam packed.

I would recommend Lapad. I haven't yet been to Polce but I write this message whilst sitting on Lapad Beach. What a great place. Travel to the old town takes 15 minutes by bus. Buses are every 15 minutes so you can get there and back easily as they run till midnight.

Lapad is so peaceful and has an air of class also. I would highly recommend.

Mlini, Srebreno or Cavtat.

,15-20 mins by bus or 30/45 by water taxi.

Mlini and Srebreno are very quiet and relaxed. Cavtat has the yachting scene

I’m staying in an AirbnB in old town n September. It looks like a prime location. I think the cruise ship tourists leave old town the early evening.
