Look at the Four Points (Downtown Dubai - Mankhool St, and Bur Dubai). The latter has a good Indian restaurant, which is often busy with Indians due to 'live' sitars etc. - as well as great food of course.
Melia is a great shout too, though perhaps a little more expensive, and it does have a good Indian restaurant on premises. It's got less going around it, and is further than a Metro, and won't be as competitive on price as Four Points.
Tips - if you fancy FP, join Starwood Preferred Guest and check out their offers, such as 3 for 2 nights. If you fancy the Melia, check out Entertainer app as it's on there as a free nights offers too.
Try Golden Sands Apartments, they are reasonably close to Metro station, and a large number of Indian restaurants (including vegetarian, if you want) within walking distance. Mind the heat if you are visiting between now and October. Dubai is a buzzing city with a lot of people living, visiting so there is no shortage of crowd, but nothing compared to Kolkatta or anywhere else in India.
Thanks a ton to all of you for your valuable advice and suggestions...appreciate your help
Will be travelling early next year...looking to book now to avail discounts..
Melia Dubai is a very good bet incase budget is not an issue.
At the same time, Four Points is a wonderful hotel and will suit your needs.
Hope this helps...
