Welcome to the TA forums, MangoKL :-)

The cheap way from the airport to the Cerco - Gongbei border checkpoint is by the AP1 bus (the stop is directly outside the arrivals lounge). Fare is MOP/HKD4.20 per pax, journey time about 30 minutes.

Outside of peak hours, taxi should take 10 minutes or so; including the airport surcharge, and maybe some luggage in the trunk (there is a small surcharge for that, too), I'd allow about MOP/HKD80.

Both buses and taxis accept MOP and HKD; taxis also accept RMB, but usually at 1:1 exchange rate, which is not a good bargain ;-)

Thank you for your response.

We will be travelling in a group of 6 including an elderly and 2 kids. Could you please advise, upon arrival by AP1 bus's at the Cerco-Gongbei border, how far do we have to walk to reach the building for immigration procedures? How long do we have to walk and would it be too far? we are concern for the elderly.

After the getting out from Gongbei immigration, please advise again how far do we have to walk or by bus or taxi to our hotel NEw East Hotel Zhuhai.

Appreciate much your reply.

Thank you again.

The AP1 bus terminates in an underground carpark, with escalators up to groundlevel. You then follow the crowds into the building and up another escalator to the immigration hall. Total walking is about 500m but there is a lot of waiting. The good news is that there is a special channel for over-65s and one person can accompany each senior.

On arrival in Gongbei you either take the escalators down into the shopping mall, turn right and go down some stairs to the taxi rank or, to avoid stairs, exit the customs building and cross the big square, keeping left. Cross one stret and you will see a busy taxi rank. I have not heard of the New East Hotel but I may know it only by a Chinese name.

Your reply really helps us a lot, thank you so much.

We will be in Zhuhai for 7D6N and would like to travel to either Guangzhou or Shenzhen. COuld you please advise how far and how many hours if travel by road?

Do we need a multiple visa to go in and out of Zhuhai, Shenzen or Guangzhou?

How is the security in Zhuhai, is it safe to walk in the night to eateries along lotus street or the seafood street or to the underground shopping centre?

Awaits your reply, thank you.

Zhuhai is pretty safe but observe usual precautions with wallets & passports - quite a bit of petty theft, day & night.

Once you are in China & stay here, you don't need multiple entry visa.

From Gongbei around 2.5-3 hr to either GZ or SZ by coach.

From Jiuzhou Port to Shekou Port (for SZ) 1 hour by ferry

From Zhuhai North train station to GZ South train station approx 65 min.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

Our hotel name is 新东方酒店 Address 珠海市拱北水湾路42号)

From Agoda website it says is a 5 minutes walking distance. If so, could you please advise which direction we should head after coming out from the immigration or gongbei checkpoint.

Is there any comments on this hotel? Can we get comments from anyone who has stayed in this hotel to give us some comments as to cleanliness, any elevator, availability of basic hotel necessity i.e. towel, shower gel, shampoo?

Appreciate your response. Thank you very much

That would be the Xin Dong Fang/ New East hotel, on Shui Wan Lu ...

just to note, MangoKL, that many of the volunteers on this site - even for Chinese destinations - are westerners who do not read Chinese, so it is helpful to use either English translations or pinyin. Thanks :-)

Paradise Hill is in the district of Jida. the hotel is located behond the Zhuhai Museum and almost opposite the Jiuzhou Cheng Shopping complex. It will take you about 10 minutes by taxi from Gongbei Customs, 20 min from Wanzai Ferry.
