Trump Taj

Just booked a comp room for a Saturday night in here. Was surprised to have it offered to me since I've only played there once early in '08 for a short time. Are the rooms and bathrooms a decent size...going down with 3 girlfriends - you know we need our space. Any recommendations on where to eat, any lounges with entertainment (not the clubs), any particular tower or room type to request? And, of course, any really fun machines there (played Wizard of Oz there and loved it).

Congratudations on your Saturday night comp. I've been going to the Taj for the past 6 years and the last trip I made in November, I've seen a lot of nice changes in customer service and the overall experience.

I have only stayed in the main tower and the rooms are very nice. The people I've spoken to about the Chairman tower said it is very nice but the walk to the casino is a bit of a treck. We go with 3 and we've always been able to get a cot in the room for no charge. It is pretty comforable for a cot, but then again I we haven't slept on it for more than a few hours! LOL The rooms have a plasma TV and are very clean. Ask for a high floor room.

The bathrooms are a very nice size, plenty of room for 3 to put on make-up and freshen up.

I like th "Qick-hits" machines near the newsstand. When they hit, they hit big and the bonus round can bring a good amount. They have some fun machines scattered about.

I've been to the EGO bar on the casino floor and it's very nice, with couches and seating areas. They usually have a band on the weekends and it gets a diverse, fun crowd.

The dining establishments leave a little to be desired. Plate is good for a sandwich and/or breakfast but the service is slow. They just opened Il Mulino, which I haven't tried but I've been to the one in NYC which was one of the best places I've ever been to. I just read a review on another board and they said the service and food was excellent but a little pricey. I like the Dynasty resturant for Chinese food and I've eaten at the Safari Steakhouse, which was okay, very expensive and poor service for what you get. I'd rather spend my money at the Palm, Ruth Chris or one of the resturants at the Borgata.

I hope this helps and have a great time!

If you are interested in moderately priced eateries:

SULTAN FEAST BUFFET: I was very impressed. The food, for the most part, is excellent, fresh, and tasty. There is a large variety and the desserts are outstanding. The service was excellent. The only drawback - the restaurant appears dated and shabby. There are chairs and tables in disrepair and the carpet is worn. Yet, if you can ignore this - I suggest it.

NOODLE BAR: It's been a while since I dined there - but I had a marvelous experience. The service is outstanding and it's truly fine, fresh and enjoyable cuisine. The staff is very welcoming, friendly and attentive.

PLATE: The service is touch and go - but the food is consistent. It's a great place to go if you want a snack before bedtime - or if you are starting out your day. There is no WOW FACTOR - it's average and acceptable. It's been a while since I dined there - so the service might have changed. Nevertheless, it's a fine atmosphere and convenient.

Of course - the food always tastes better if it's comped! :)

Have a wonderful trip.

Dynasty is good but expensive. Food was good but I have had better had much cheaper chinese spots.

Rim - Noodle Bar - was very good - definitely recommend it.

Il Mulino - I have heard nothing but great thing about it but did hear its a bit expensive.

Plate is kind of like a diner type place - its good cause it is open at all times.

Burger is good if you are looking for something fast - their sweet potato fries are yummmyyy

If you want a buffet-walk over to Showboat (they are connected) their buffet is way better than the one at Taj.

I was at the Taj last week for New Year's Eve festivities -- it truly is my favorite place to be. I am hooked on the rooms in the Chairman Tower. The bathrooms are bigger than the Taj Tower and include a double sink, vanity, make-up mirror and stool with a separate room for the toilet (could be good in a room of 3 women). The elevators are a little farther away than the Taj Tower, but it's easy to get to (go straight) - no maps necessary.

We had another incredible dinner at Il Mulino -- it was a full dining experience and the waiters are wonderful. I ran out of time and didn't get to go this trip, but I love Dynasty and have never had a bad experience with food or service.

I only go to Plate in the middle of the night/early in the morning when everything else is closed (and I'm starving) - casual, sandwiches, burgers, salads, etc. Not bad for breakfast, though.

Rim Noodle Bar and Sultan's Feast Buffet are okay for what they are - noodles and buffet. There is also a Hard Rock Cafe, which is . . . well . . . the Hard Rock Cafe!

I haven't actually been inside the Ego Bar, but it's smack dab in the middle of the casino and you can't help but hear the music when the band is playing -- I can usually be found on Friday and Saturday nights dancing in my seat at one of the Mr. Cashmans nearby.

I played the Wizard of Oz last week for the first time and Glenda showed up twice with hits of more than $400 (just as I was thinking that this game doesn't pay out much) -- it is now a favorite.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
