This is quite a small hotel, take care when choosing where you want to stay, although transport is relatively cheap and easy decide which area you want to stay.

Also note some places are right on the beach whereas other may be 'near' the beach and others still could be a long way from the beach.

Hua Hin has a huge choice of places to stay, excluding low budget pl;aces still around 60-70 variius hotels, resorts, boutique properties, villa suites etc etc

In August expect some rain, however, Hua Hin area has one of the driest beach climates in all Thailand, to compare with others in expected mm oif rainfall per month in August:

Hua Hin area : 95

Koh Samui are: 105

Phuket area : 272

So quite a difference

We booked our holiday through Hayes & Jarvis (www.hayesandjarvis.co.uk)and found them too be very professional & helpful... we had seen a special offer advertised to the Mantra Resort and didn't book it quick enough; we phoned them up after the deal had finished, but they were able to offer us an alternative offer at the same hotel which was great value for money. The rep from H&J was not long back from the Mantra resort and thoroughly recommended it!

Dec-Feb are the recommended months to visit Thailand as there is little chance of rain. However, my boyfriend & I visited at the beginning of October during the "rainy season" and despite having a few days of rain (not full days) we had plenty of sunshine too and the rain generally didn't last too long. As it is not cold rain it is very different to a down pour in the UK - the skies generally clear qickly and the sun comes out again!
