Transferring in Bangkok to Krabi

We have a Qatar flight from LGW to BKK, and will be transferring to an Air Asia flight to Krabi. The Qatar flight is due to land at 7:45am, and the Krabi flight is due to depart at 10:20am. Will this be enough time to clear immigration, get our bags, recheck in with Air Asia, etc etc? I've seen that you can check your bags all the way through which saves time - is this available on Qatar/Air Asia? Its impossible to get through to both their helplines.

Any advice appreciated.

Hi,

You should be ok if your Qatar flight arrives on time. You cannot check your bags through to Air Asia as they are a point to point carrier, so you will have to check in for the Krabi flight by 9.30 on the 4th floor of the airport, this gives you 1 hour 45 minutes to de-plane, go through immigration, collect bags and take the lift up from arrivals on level 2 to departures on level 4 where you'll find the Air Asia desks, I'd have thought this was enough time

cheers

Hi Lost,

You should be fine as per the above poster's reply. Maybe just make the Qatar staff aware at Gatwick that you have a tight connection - they may prioritise your bags.

Hey,

Might be useful if you are able to do online check-in for the Air Asia flights first, then just check your bags once you're in Bangkok. Hopefully they have special queue for online check-in that might save a lot of time.

Yes you can check-in online for your Air Asia flight 48 hours before your departure and you can print your boarding pass. There is a bag drop and document check separate from the main check-in area.

Hi,

Does Air Asia depart from Subarmabumi (sp??) or the other airport ?

We are planning to go to Krabi from BKK.

All Air Asia flights leave from Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok's main airport, the airport code is BKK so you can check on your booking, the other airport is Don Muang and the code is DMK

cheers

Thanks for all your posts. We haven't yet booked the Air Asia flight, and was told by an agent we would need at least 3 hours. I'm now confident that flight will be ok. Thanks again.
