Spending Money - All Inclusive

Hi,

We are due to travel as a couple this Saturday and will be staying all-inclusive at the Raymar Hotel in Mangavat. We've never been to Turkey before and therefore unsure of prices of things.

We will be staying in the hotel 90% of the time only venturing out to go to a market and hopefully do jet skiing, possibly a beach day with a couple of drinks an then of course drinks in the airport on the way home.

Could you advise on a guideline on how much spending money 2 of us should bring for the above activities.

Thanks

Also, should we bring Turkish Lira or Euros?

Hi,

You'll always get a better deal by using Turkish Lira. Everywhere wil accept Euros, but it will be at an exchange rate that suits them not you! If it's priced in Euro just tell them you're paying in Lira, it's their national currency so they have to accept it.

Take enough Lira for a couple of days and then exchange sterling when you're there at the PTT (post office) as you'll get a better rate of exchange over there.

As for how much to take, well that's really up to you on how much you want to spend! I'd set yourself a budget and then see what you can get for that money. There's always ATMs and any bills run up at the hotel for things like spa treatments etc can be paid for by card (again if you pay in Lira it'll work out cheaper.) Remember to haggle in the markets and shops. Offer half of what they ask for and they'll usually meet you half way, if they don't move on as the same stuff will be on sale in the shop next door!

Alcohol isn't cheap but most other things are compared to the UK.

Have a great trip,

Em
