Will Flight Prices Drop Below $1000 cdn?

Hello,

De ja vu, I was on the forums two years ago when I went to Japan. These forums are very help ful and I really appreciate all the advice. I’m planning to go to japan in April, yes high season but the prices for flights are above our budget($1000cdn). However, I was checking flight price trends on Kayak and November had the lowest prices($700-$800). I’ve setup price alerts but haven’t seen any price drops lately in January. Do you think the prices will drop below $1000 cdn down the road(Feb, Mar). Or is it too late. Our budget is around $800 cdn for flights.

If I have the answer, I won't be wasting time on here as I would be busy at the airlines' board room, or trading crude oil futures, picking winning lottery numbers...etc. A lot of things can cause air fare to drop: terrorist attacks, earthquakes, tsunami, SARS, stock market collapse,..

Anyway, expecting 800CAD air fare for April from Toronto at this time is unrealistic. From Vancouver, maybe. From an unknown Canadian airport , answer is unknown.

I've paid between 1300 - 1900 for economy from Toronto travelling in April over the last few years.

I booked my direct flights from Vancouver to Haneda for our May trip for about $1040CAD about two weeks ago. There were cheaper flights (about $700 - $800 CAD) but with connections in China, so too long travel time, decided to spend more $$ and flight direct. I have a Japanese friend who says they don't tend to get any cheaper. Not sure about prices from Toronto, though, sorry.

I grabbed direct flight tickets from YYZ to HND on Cyber Monday for this coming April for less than $800 a piece.

Sometimes you can get cheaper flights thru other airlines with a stopover that is half the price.
