Where is the cheapest place for car rental at Langkawi? Do i get auto gear/transmission car within 40-50 RM? Is there any scope that i hire the car for half a day?

The cheapest place is Kuah Jetty but I doubt that you can get any auto car for that price though but you can always ask.

Normally cars go for 24hrs but again you can give it a try.

Happy Trying!

Whilst I have not hired a car in Langkawi recently, I have done so in other parts of Malaysia - - -

I think you will find that cars start at around rm115 plus CDV if you pre book online.

I rented a automatic Nissan Sunny (relatively new) for RM80 (just 1 day) outside Mutiara Burau Bay resort. Look for Eddy.

I'm back from Langkawi yesterday and met an agent who rent a 5 seaters automatic for RM50. The condition is OK but definatlly not top of the class. My bottom line is, as long as the vehicle running properly and with reasonable aircondition, I wouldn't have complains. CD player is definatelly an extra but not a necessary -- hey, I just use it for couple of days and not own it.

Still, I have no idea about vehicle rental at jetty but most agents in airport also offer vehicles for RM50.

Good luck.

try kasina car rentals (www.kasina.com.my). i had a great experience with them the last time i was at langkawi..Had a 2 month old Toyota Innova, picked up at the jetty and returned at the same location. there have an office at the airport as well if you're flying in.

For a cheaper alternative, give the touts on the mainland a miss and rent one at Kuah town. Quality of the car can sometimes be dodgy. One time, i rented a Proton Iswara for $50/day but the air-con kept dying...... in our hot weather, the A/C is really, really important!
