Accomodation

Hey guys, we are a group of 6 students traveling through Thailand and we'll stay 3 nights in Phi Phi islands. We booked PP charlie beach resort, but after a quick view at the reviews in Tripadvisor we aren't sure that we ade the best decision and since we can cancel the booking do you have any recommendation about a good place to stay there and not that expensive? Btw we are thinking about doing scuba diving do you have any recommendation about the best company to do it and if we should book it before departure or there? Thank you in advance.

Best regards

Pretty much any accommodation there have lots of negative reviews. Investment is next to nothing, most places looks like they haven't been touched for years while having quite highr price compared to what you get for same money on other places in Thailand.

I'll avoid PP like plague

Currently there is a big crack down under way on Phi Phi against illegal guesthouses and hostels. But also many hotels were found being not in compliance with building codes, illegal land and forest encroachment. The paradise is long gone and authorities, land owners, etc. completely failed to rebuild Phi Phi after it was devastated by the tsunami. The mass tourism has destroyed the island and Hollywood movie producers the beach at Maya Bay.

@jawhy would that be silly? If you prefer overpriced, overcrowded place with loud drunkish teenagers be my guest. Same type accommodation cost at least twice as much compared to any other part of thailand, 7-11 have inflated prices, most beaches ( exept this remote on north/east) are mediocre and full of longtail boats which means smell of gasoline everywhere in sea. During low tide Tonsai side from pier eastern toward long beach is awful. Oposite bay is same.

So called nightlife is nothing but same stupid music each night. Mtv top 40 from 90s and 00s featured fireshow.

As i said i'll avoid it like plague, but someone will like it for sure.

You seem to mistakenly believe Tonsai represents the entire island like so many people do. Look at a map of Phi Phi to understand that virtually the entire island is not crowded, and does not have drunk teenagers & loud music everywhere

All islands have higher prices for obvious reasons. If you think Phi Phi is expensive, please do not consider going to Ko Krandan, Ko Ngai or Ko Lipe where prices are even higher
