We are planning a trip to Sri Lanka and are going to Colombo then Kandy then to yala and then finally to Missa beach and are wondering if there is anything you would recommend doing in these areas? And also hotel suggestions for these places.

Colombo - 2 day

Kandy - 2 day

Yala - 2 day

Missa Beach - 3 day

Thanks!

Yala in 2 days probably too long if you are only doing a half day safari. Best safari times at Yala is 6-9 am and 3-6 pm. One night enough to me. Stay one night in Ella or NuwaraEliya instead in between Kandy and Yala.

I prefer staying in Negombo on the first day than in Colombo. I would limit the colombo stay to one night. Kandy to Yala is not doable. Too faraway. Spend one night in Nuwara Eliya or Ella to break the journey.

Cheers !!!

Thanks Sarah,

Would you recommend the train trip from Kandy to Ella through the tea Plantations, and also a place to stay in Ella. We have nine days and would like to go to Colombo, Kandy (to see elephant orphanage, Sigiriya rock and also the train trip through the tea plantations to Ella), Ella, Yala (especially to see the wildlife) and then Mirrisa beach to relax on the beach. any ideas of how we should lay out our trip.

And just anymore suggestions on hotels in these places and other things to do in the time period.

thanks!

Sure. Go for something like below.

Airport - Colombo (1N) - Kandy (2N) - Ella (2N) - Yala (1N) - Mirissa (2N) - Airport

Visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage on your way to Kandy. Visit Sigiriya as a day tour from Kandy. You can also visit Dambulla cave temple on the same day. Yes, the train ride is great. Highly recommend it. Try to pre-book the seats. It's a very busy route. Better if you can hire a vehicle. However, public transport will also work.

Hotel recommendations depends on your budget. Check the tripadvisor reviews. You will be able to find some good hotels.

Cheers !!!
