Restaurants Delhi - conundrum

Hi, visiting Delhi soon. Looking for a couple of restaurant suggestions. On trip advisor so many seem to be in hotels. Looking for a restaurant with some character so will feel like we're in Delhi, but need it to be smart enough that we can be sure not to get a stomach upset. It's the start of our trip and want to be careful. Also needs to serve meat and alcohol and a cosy ambiance. Not looking for contemporary cuisine or setting. Can anyone give some suggestions please? We're staying at the Taj Diplomatic Enclave Hotel. Not 100% against eating at a hotel restaurant as long as it has some atmosphere. Thanks in advance.

What I do when I travel is access TA from my hotel to find out what restaurants are in the vicinity, then look at the reviews.

You are staying in an upmarket, modern area, so a cab ride might be needed if you want something with atmosphere. Check to see if the restaurant in Lodi Gardens has reopened; it's not too far from you. Nice outside dining.

In India https://www.zomato.com/ncr is better to seach than T.A. when food is concerned.

The ITC Maurya, next hotel from your hotel have Pukhtan and Bukhara, one of the two top rated restaurants in Delhi.

Thanks for the info re zomato. It doesn't have listings for Mexico so I tend to overlook it!

Yes, Spice Route is fun. I was trying to think of the name...

Cheers, The Lodi Garden Restaurant is brilliant, with both in and outdoor seating, on edge of the Gardens amidst medieval tombs (close to Chankyapuri Diplomatic Enclave)

But, it specificities are non Indian food (European, Lebanese, Mediterranean)

and it may be temporarily closed

So kind of you all to respond so quickly. Very much appreciated. I'll look at all your suggestions, although I don't think Lodi Gardens and Spice Route do Indian food, which is what we're ideally looking for.

Do any of you know Restaurants called Chor Bizarre and Farzi Cafe?

Thanks

Not very far from your hotel is Malcha Marg market. There are a few Indian restaurants here like Lazeez Affair, Moti Mahal and Sanadige.
