Day trip Montgomery

Any suggestions for a familybdin filled day in the area? We recently move from the Atlanta area to he northwest Florida area. Montgomery is exactly halfway (just over 2 hours)from our new home to our friends' home in GA. We are hoping to use Montgomery as a meeting point to spend an occasional Saturday to get together.

Between our families we have a 7 & 10 year old girls.

Can you recommend any recommended parks, family entertainment centers, etc at which we could spend an entire day and then drive iurbsoerate ways home?

Thanks

Best options close to Montgomery would be Butter and Egg Adventures in Troy. It is an outdoor adventure center with zip lines, adventure courses, and laser tag. It is about an hour south of Montgomery. About an hour closer to GA is Chewacla State Park in Auburn.

In Montgomery, you have an indoor trampoline park and the riverfront area of downtown, if there is anything going on when you are there. Lots of historical sites in downtown if there is any interest in that. Just north of Montgomery in Millbrook is Lake Jackson Island (Town of Spectre) which is home to the movie set from the Tim Burton movie Big Fish. If you are here in warm weather, you can swim, fish, kayak or canoe, or just hang out and have a picnic. The buildings from the movie set are interesting to see up close. The Alabama Shakespeare Festival might have something of interest if you check their website.

Depending on what you are wanting to do of course but if you just want to picnic and meet up then Vaughn Road Park or lagoon Park are good places to meet and have family time. They have grills and various playing fields at both as well as walking paths and pavillions. Chewacla SP in Auburn is just off the interstate and has a lot to see and do. That is a better spot if you want an outdoor type meeting spot.

Montgomeryzoo.com well maintained, medium sized.

Jasminehill.org very pretty gardens with a lot of Greek influence

And if its april-september, a Biscuits game at the riverfront ball park is hard to beat. (AA affiliate for Tampa Bay).

Have fun,

KM
