Weather forecast

We arrive on Monday Sep 4. Weather forecast seems to show partly cloudy and some rain. How acccurate are the forecasts? Is it similar to Hawaii where it is generally sunny and rains for a brief period in the afternoon or evenings?

You've put this post in the Tokoriki Forum of the Fiji Forum so I am assuming that you are going to Tokoriki. If that is the case then you will be on an island in the Western Side of the nation. As such it is known to be drier than the main island of Viti Levu. You can see it raining over the mountains on the main island and it is dry as a bone where you are.

The types of weather you are talking about I have had both. We were there last October and it rained non stop for the 1st two days we were there and then on the last day it was patchy with a few storms.

Generally speaking in September it rains very little.

If you want to see what is going on then check out this webcam: http://castawayfiji.com/webcam/ This will give you a good idea of what is going on. It is situated on Castaway Island Resort in the Mamanuca Island Chain

Check Fiji bureau of meterology website. It can rain at any time like anywhere else. Hopefully you won't get much. Just go and enjoy.

we just came back from Fiji last night. Prior to our arrival and everyday when we were there, is was showing thunderstorms online (for 3 different Fiji weather sites we were monitoring) for the area we were staying at - it was beautiful blue skies everyday with no rain

Returned last week from a 7 night small boat cruise around the Mamanucas and Yasawis. Weather was either blue sky or cloudy. No rain. Air temp mid 20sC and ocean about the same. Enjoy your trip .
