Great Firewall of China

I had read about certain websites like youtube not accessible from China with the wifi there. To do so would require VPN.

Well I am now in Shanghai and would like to share that i am able to access all these so called banned websites. Not through the local wifi though.

How do I do it? Prior to my arrival, I bought a Starhub (Singapore local telco) pre-paid data simcard ('happy roam') that allows me to surf overseas at a cheap rate. I used the dataplan to surf web and make phone call via whatsapp.

For those who are not from Singapore, perhaps you can look for something similar in your home countries.

Yes, with foreign SIM cards you can surf unrestricted in China. Nothing new about that.
