Late arrival, early departure

We arrive in SJ at 1 AM. Our departing flight leaves at 6 AM. The tour we signed up for through Latin America 4Less will pick us up, and take us to the airport. I am not a very trusting soul. What would the other options be at 1 AM or at 4 or 5 AM?. Are there taxis available? I am afraid of being stuck in a situation where the airport is essentially closed down because of the hour of the day.

Please relax and do not worry...as long as it is a charter flight or schedule airline flight ...it will always be a taxi available at Juan Santamaria...GUARANTEE...

That early in the morning the best and safest way...get a ORANGE taxi...official taxis ...

Just buckle up and enjoy the ride in PARADISE!

There are taxis available at the airport all the time, basically, since there are flights almost 24 hours a day.

If you wanted to get a taxi back to the airport, you can arrange at your hotel to have a taxi pick you up at whatever time you need. Taxis and hotels in Alajuela (this is where the airport is located) are used to people coming and going at all hours so this is not a problem. If, for some reason, your shuttle doesn't show up, just have someone at the hotel call a taxi for you.

No problem about getting a taxi. I would recommend having your hotel confirm first with your tour company and if you feel safer with a cab, ask them to set one up for you the night before. This way you also have credibility of the cab because most hotels work with reliable cab services.

Hope this helps,

holiday inn express has a shuttle running allday and nite. we were able to pay our departure tax around 4a.m. so we did not have to get in line at the airport to do it. no problem getting to the airport. lots of flights leave early a.m.
