8 1/2 hour layover in Rarotonga...what can we do?

Hello! We have over 8 hours in Rarotonga on a Sunday in November before we fly to Aitutaki. What can we do for those hours there?

Is there a luggage locker in the airport that we can use to store our luggage? Or does the Islander Hotel across the street still charge $5 per piece of luggage?

Will the airport authorities allow us to check in our luggage as soon as we land in Rarotonga (final destination is Aitutaki).

Should we rent a car or scooters? (Assuming we can store our luggage or check it in).

Is there a Sunday market that we can explore?

Or do you recommend a particular hotel on the beach where we can have breakfast and lunch?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Hello Frangipani08, thank you so much for all your help and efforts. I will follow your advice and ask Air Raro to put us on a wait list. But if not, I'm pretty sure that having 9 hours on Raro is a wonderful experience! We appreciate all you've done. Have a great night!
