"Does anyone know if Marble Restaurant is still open?"
Yes, it is.

Someone reviewed it on EatOut on the 8th of this month, so it presumably is still open. Perhaps they don't respond to emails.
Worth it? In my view no meal for two is worth paying a thousand rand for, but clearly a lot of people disagree ...
"Designer food" for people with designer budgets :)
I ate at Marble in March of this year and they were very responsive to my email. They are very active on Twitter so maybe ask them why they haven't responded on there?
Yes it was expensive for Joburg but similar to Cape Town restaurants for a similar quality and a big name chef.
It was pumping on a Saturday night when I was there! So yes I would book.
I had lamb chops and they were very good. Wine was expensive for SA standards.
But I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
And yes it is definitely open and they've just opened a new butcher's department.
Marble is very open. And still buzzing. Worth a reservation, for sure.
Ok Thanks guys, I may give them a call!

That's not so expensive if you convert it to GBP - only £60 for 2 for a high end restaraunt. Pretty decent IMO
Fortunately we are holidaying with GBP in South Africa and for us eating out with good wine is pretty cheap, and one of the reasons I visit so often.
For locals with rand, it's not such a good deal.
I definitely enjoyed Marble when I ate there
Correct, only those with $, £, €, or the really well heeled locals can afford to drop a thousand Rands for a meal for only two people:-(
An amount which is probably ¼ or more, of many locals' monthly income ( and certainly well beyond my budget, perhaps I could drop that amount for 4, though ).
