One itinerary we have had suggested to us gives the option to stay at Knysna for 3 nights followed by 3 at Plettenberg. As they are quite close to each other would we be advised to opt for a 5 or 6 night stay at one or the other rather than 3 at each? We like the look of The Plettenberg Hotel but haven't yet decided on a place to stay in Knysna - although the St James has been suggested.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I certainly would opt to stay in one, not both. A pet hate of mine is packing/unpacking. We always stay Bed and Breakfast so cannot recommend any hotels - sorry.

I agree with Joy stay at one place. In Knysna you can look at Leisure Isle lodge or Amanzi Lodge for sea view rooms. If you want near water front then look at Rex Hotel.

I agree - you only need to stay at one - I prefer Plettenberg but Knysna is great too - I would suggest only 4 nights max - this means you could stay an extra night at Oudtshoorn and Franshhoek as per your other posts

I would also advise that you stay in one place. I agree with BT, 4 nights is enough and my vote is also for Plett, but ultimately its up to you.

Depends also on what you want to pay for the hotel.

We have been to The Plettenberg, it's pure luxury and has it's price. Location is excellent, at the end of a cul de sac and high above the ocean with unbelievable views.

The St. James is nowhere near to The Plettenberg, although the location is quite good as well.

My impression is that 0ff season Plettenberg is much quieter, whereas Knysna is much more busy.

Knysna would get my vote, mainly because it is a friendlier town and it has fantastic amenities no matter what your preference, whether it be the forests or the beach Knysna is located close to everything.

Plett is nice though it has a lot less to do than Knysna, unless you plan on just vegging on the beach go to Knysna.

My choice would be driven by what you want to do and visit when you're in the area. Most of the activities we want to do next trip are closer to Plett so Plett it is!

If staying in Knysna I would suggest Paradise Heads B&B if you want something more intimate although St James is a lovely hotel. Actvities in Knysna, I would suggest Knysna Rib adventures which is great fun.

Hello Neep

Definitely stay in one spot. Have you looked at The Turbine Boutique Hotel in Knysna?

Thank you so much for choosing to visit South Africa!

We're planning a trip to several countries in Africa next April. Thinking of going to Krysna but wonder if there's anything other than tourist traps to do there.

Any suggestions in S. Africa (other han Kruger Park), Botswana, Mosambique, Zambia (other than Victoria Falls) is welcome. Thankyou
