Scottsdale in the spring with kids?

We'll be heading to Scottsdale with our 2 kids (ages 8 and 5) at the end of March/beginning of April 2019. We're mostly looking for a tad warmer weather then our Washington weather and pool time at our timeshare but was also looking for other fun things to do with kids? Hikes? attractions? Favorite restaurants? Also, would be up for any day trips. We'll be there for 7 nights 8 days then heading to Tucson to see family after that. Thanks for your help!!

McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, at Scottsdale Road and Indian Bend, is a great amusement park for the kids. The Sugar Bowl, at Scottsdale Road and 1st Ave., is an ice cream parlor for both kids and adults. Does serve burgers, etc. The Phoenix Zoo, on Galvin Parkway just south of McDowell, is a place to visit. I normally would not recommend a museum for the kids, but the Musical Instrument Museum is an exception. They give you an audio device so you can hear the instrument playing. The kids might enjoy the drums, etc. in the African section.

End of March/early April can be a congested time in Scottsdale and the Phoenix area. Baseball spring training in March is a major attraction and brings lots of visitors here. Since you apparently have a time share, getting a reservation should not be a problem.

As for restaurants, Scottsdale has loads. What part of town is your time share in?

As for day trips, there are several options. Grand Canyon is a 4-hour plus drive one way. A trip there calls for at least an overnighter. Prescott is an hour or so away. It was the first Territorial Capitol; it has a lovely courthouse square with lots of grass and stautes where the kids can run and play. A block west is the Sharlot Hall Museum with the first Governor's Mansion, a restored log cabin. Payson, northeast of Scottsdale, is about an hour, and a but cooler. You can make a run up the Mogollon Rim.

The Children's Museum in downtown Phoenix is worth a visit.

A nice day trip is to go to Goldfield Ghost Town. It's about an hour from Scottsdale. It is a restored gold mining town. There are a lot of activities there for the kids from panning gold to a short train ride and small zip line. Perfect for your kids ages. On weekends from noon to 4pm they have a gunfight in the street which is interesting. We like the Saloon for lunch or places to get ice cream and other snacks.
