Astronomy Tour / Pink Jeep / Spa or In-Room Massage

Hi all!

Thanks again for all your help thus far. We're so excited about our trip to Sedona this weekend.

I just had a few last questions:

We'll be arriving at PHX at 10 a.m. on Friday. I figure that once we deplane and pick up the rental car it will be pretty close to 11 a.m.

We'll hit the road then, stopping at Wal-mart and the Stage coach restaurant recommend by others on this board. With stops and travel time, I'd say we should arrive at our hotel, Los Pasadas at 2 p.m.

I'm thinking of booking the 3 p.m. Pink Jeep tour and catching the sunset. Does the sun set there late in the 4 o'clock p.m. hour?

Does this timeline sound realistic?

For other bargain seekers: We'll be booking Pink Jeep using the 15% discount available here: http://www.visitsedona.com/index.php?action=package.list&cat=Holiday%20Discount%20%26%20Deals

Following the 2-hour Pink Jeep tour, we'll plan for dinner at Cafe Elote or Cucina Rustica at 6:30 p.m.

Following dinner, I was thinking of booking Clif's Astronomy tour, but am wondering if the nights are too cold there now to spend hours out doors in the evening.

What do you think?

Our Bed & Breakfast, Los Posadas, does not offer an on-site spa, so we're considering services at the New Day Spa, The Red Rock Healing Center (recommended by another contributor to this board for having great prices), or possibly an in-room massage.

Any recommendations on a great masseuse for the in-room option?

I love reflexology. We're interested in affordable treatments though, or any tips on discounted services.

On Day 2: We'll either do the Sedona Trolley (is this recommended by contributors here??) or our day trip to the Grand Canyon

Are there any recommendations in the way of nightlife? I know Sedona pretty much shuts down after a certain time in the evening, but I'm wondering if there are any bars or clubs that stay open if we did decide we wanted to go out.

As always, thanks so much for your invaluable input!

If your plane arrives at 10AM it will be at least 11 or later before you're on the road. With a stop at Wal-Mart and then the Rock Springs Cafe, it will be at least 3PM or later before you check in at Los Posadas. (Good choice BTW). So I wouldn't plan on a 3PM PJ tour. 4PM would be pushing it, but more realistic. Dinner after wards at Elote or CR is a great plan. Trying to rush through that so you can do a night sky tour would be way too much for your travel day IMO. Remember, your body will be an hour behind already.

For budget priced massage treatments try either of the massage Schools in Sedona. But be sure to specify reflexology if that is your preference. Not all students will have training in that modality.

How many days do you have booked for Sedona? If it's only 2 then i would recommend staying closer to town on day 2 so you can enjoy the sights. You can self tour most places, so the trolley would be less exciting than your PJ tour on day one. And it will only take you to places that you'll want to go back to on your own. So again, how much time do you have?

The GCNP is very worth while but it is a full day excursion from Sedona.

For night life try Relics, or Ken's Creekside or if you want to hang with a more local crowd closer to Los Posadas, check out PJ's Pub..

Thanks RedRox!

We're not checking any bags, so we're hoping to be able to hit the road before 11 a.m,; Hopefully the car rental won't take a long time.

I went ahead and booked the 4 p.m. Pink Jeep Tour. Will we have atleast a full hour of daylight? What time is the sun setting there now? I'm seriously considering skipping lunch at Rock Springs Cafe so that we can do the 3 p.m. tour and have more sunlight and photo opps.

Thanks for the suggestion for massage schools. I contacted two, and a full hour massage is about $30! What a great deal!

We have three full days in Sedona, and depart on the fourth day.

Sunset today 11/11 is at 5:24 pm MST, so this weekend will be a bit earlier. Civil twilight (between sunset and darkness) ends at 5:51. The tour is 2 hours long, so the last half hour will be done after sunset while the sky is still light enough to see, but the photo opportunities plus the vistas will be poor. You should return to the PJ HQ at dark. I would move it up as the sunset experience is not the setting, but rather the hour before-hand when the setting sun illuminates the red rocks. Your better photo ops and sights will be earlier rather than later. I would change it to 3, but it's up to you.
