October/ November or when? Help please

Dear Friends,

when do you advise us to visit Nafplio?

how far is it from athens? and where do u advise us to stay.

we are a family 2 adults a toddler by October 2019 she will be 2 years,

so what are there activities that can be done with her?

and in October we can't swim right? it will be cold?

we came to Athens 2 years ago in the first of October the weather was hot, how it will be in the middle of october of first of November?

most likely we will visit Athens and Nafplio, or Nafplio and Thessaloniki, or if it's possible we can visit the three.

could you advise will it be possible to be done in like 10 days? and how do think we should separate the days and nights?

appreciate any possible help, tips and ideas :)

Noura !

Hi Precious S, lots of Nafplio experts here so I will just comment on the weather. We were there the latter half of October in '17. The weather itself was mixed sun/clouds/light rain, 60s-70s fahrenheit, the water was still warm (warmer than the air really). We found 9 nights total, 2 in Athens and 7 doing a loop in the Peloponnese, to be just right for us and our two older children. The Greeks will just love your toddler! Check out Bradt's Guide for the Peloponnese and http://www.visitnafplio.com/

We were in Nafplio mid-October and for the most part the weather was mild, short sleeves during the day and even a few nights. A light jacket for evenings every now and then. A little rain but no wash-outs.

You can take a bus or rent a car to get to Nafplio. We took the bus and it was a nice ride, inexpensive and didn't have to worry about driving until we rented a car in Nafplio. It's maybe 2 hours or so from Athens.

Nafplio Old Town is mostly level with nice back streets and waterfront. There are some hilly areas away from the waterfront. It's an easy walk to the New Town where locals do their every day shopping.

Bourtzi Castle just off shore can be reached by water taxi and would be nice for an hour or so to explore with your child.

We swam in the Aegean mid-October and the water was warm.

Thessaloniki and Nafplio are just about as opposite in directions as you can go in Greece. I would stick with Athens and Nafplio.

Athens deserves at least 3 days to fully experience and you can fill out the rest of the time and around Nafplio.

dear Friends, appreciate your replies a lot

what about Paros? how can we reach it? will it be warm or colder?

and how far is it from Athens?

is it better to stick to Nafplio and athens or add Paros?

thanks

With 10 days it may be tricky to add another destination, especially an island. Every time you change destination involves time, and time is valuable on holiday. If you do Athens & Nafplio and want to get to Paros you'll have to go back to Piraeus for a ferry to Paros.

A suggestion for an island visit from Nafplio is to do a day cruise from nearby Tolo to the islands of Hydra/Spetses. You can leave in the morning and return later in the day without having to move again.

Mentioned above the www.visitnafplio .website will give you a great deal of good and useful information. There is a good inter city coach service between Athens (Kiffisos bus station) and Nafplio; around a dozen buses a day. Information on KTEL Argolis.

Never guarantee the weather, but it will be warmer than Paros; I've often had enjoyable swimming from the town beach at the beginning of November.

There are lots of weekend visitors from Athens and a biggish resident population, The town beach is pebbles, but safe, there is a sandy beach around a 45 minute sea side walk.

For your daughter , there is a little town street train and a pretty park with swings etc. There are a number pf pleasant inexpensive hotels on the edge of the Old Town close to the bus terminus.
