The Hideaway Bar and Restaurant

I wanted to write a review of this cute little place but do not find it on tripadvisor. We stumbled on it and it appears to have been here forever. The service was great, the food very good and reasonably priced and they had pool and checkers you could play if you chose to stay in the bar. Four stars for sure. The only negative was the food was not quite hot enough. Prime rib was really good and only 19.99. I had a roasted whole chicken breast that was very good as well. Not sure why it is not included on tripadvisors list, but really happy that we drove around a little and found it.

1. Re: The Hideaway Bar and Restaurant

I visited the Hideaway today for the first time since moving to Guerneville, CA (a town within the Russian River area, west of Santa Rosa, CA). Having been "in the business" (I ran the Franciscan Restaurant on Fisherman's Wharf for almost 20 years) and have a degree in business and hotel and restaurant management. I'm always looking to experience new businesses and food.

I ordered a scotch and soda which I promptly received and was pleasently surprised by the quality of the drink

I then ordered dinner - prime rib with baked potato and fresh vegatables (broccoli, cauloflower and green beans). And I got the last order of prime rib!

The drink, food and service were outstanding and portioned perfectly. I haven't had prime rib as good as that for quite some time.

The only reason I'm giving the Hideaway 4 stars is due to the lack of basic access for persons with disabilities. There was no accessible parking (as required), no accessible tables (as required), and the bathroom was almost impossible to use, even though I was using my manual wheelchair. i wouldn't have been able to even get into the bathroom if I'd been in an electric wheelchair or scooter.

The new owners have an opportunity to create the most talked-about restaurant and bar in the Russian River area, not only because of the setting and buildings that date back to the early 1900's, but also because of the reasonable price for the food and drink served there and the staff that went out of their way to make sure my experience at the Hideaway was a very positive/memorable experience.

When the required access modifications are finally done and if the food and service continue to be some of the best in the area, this will be a winner everyone visiting Guerneville should experience.

Thank you, staff.
