2 Perfect Days in Guerneville - No "Wining"

We're taking our 19 year old daughters and a couple of their friends to Guerneville for 3 days/2 nights next week. We're staying at a house on the Russian River close to the Monte Rio Golf Club. Help us plan activities for two perfect days - keeping in mind what is open at this time of year. We like the outdoors, good scenery, good food - but not expensive (the girls have strict budgets), interesting local shopping.

Well, Guerneville is "interesting." A bit of "the land that time forgot" but it's a fun place. You might want to scoot over to Occidental too. And other "lost in time" village nearby is Duncan Mills.

I think you mean the "Northwood Golf Club." I have a friend that has a second home near that golf course and kayaking the river is our #1 activity. Don't know what the water level is like in the river right now but it's usually easy kayaking.

Take a ride out to the coast at Jenner.

Thanks, WhiteDahlia. Yes, Northwood Golf Club. Will check out Occidental and Duncan Mills. We're all about "interesting". Jenner is definitely on the list.

Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve is great... everything from shady, cool redwood forest to coastal mountaintops and ocean views.

There is a Canopy Tour (zipline) nearby...I think near Occidental, if they are interested in that.

We had brunch at Backyard restaurant in nearby Forestville and enjoyed it very much: http://www.backyardforestville.com/welcome/

There's not a whole lot in Guerneville, but Boon Eat and Drink was pretty good--on the pricier side, though. Their flash-fried brussels sprouts appetizer is a-maz-ing! http://eatatboon.com/menus/

Thanks, Puler. The zip line tour looks great, but sadly closed next week for construction. PGdenizen, thanks for the restaurant suggestions. I'll check them out. Love flash fried Brussel sprouts!
