ATV Trails and lodging

Hi, We are bringing our ATV's to Crested Butte and looking for lodging that will be close to the ATV trails. Was hoping to be able to park my ATV at the hotel and ride to the trails. Is there such a place in Crested Butte?

I can't find anything that would indicate CB allows ATVs in town. Info about counties and cities that allow some ATV use:

staythetrail.org/content.aspx…

I don't see anything for CB (and do see entries for towns like Silverton that allow ATVs in town), and the entry for Gunnison County only says "sections of designated county roads".

Info on required registration and permits:

I have a hard time picturing lodging in Crested Butte that would allow ATV's to leave from their property.

Crested Butte is in Gunnison county so you will have to check with them.

Look at Taylor Park instead.

Maybe Lake City.

Agreed. Both would be a better option for ATVs.

Thanks, going to both places during this trip. We want to ride Schofield Pass, which I believe is out of CB. Looks like we will have to trailer our ATV's to the trailhead.

Tps, your best shot at reaching the OP is to send a private message.

The information in the thread is correct. ATVs/side by sides are not permitted to drive in Crested Butte, nor are they allowed on most county roads in Gunnison County. You will need to find lodging with parking space for your vehicle & trailer then trailer to the trailhead.

It can be difficult to find parking at trailheads where ATV use is permitted. Taylor Park is more easily accessible for ATVs.

Probably should mention that parts of this (Devil’s Punchbowl) are rated expert only, one of the most difficult routes in the state.
