Forgot to post the link for the air quality - it also suggests limiting activity in the following counties:

San Juan, La Plata, Hinsdale, and northern Montezuma. https://twitter.com/cdpheapcd

Thanks for posting this SL. Plus a new fire started yesterday between Dolores and Rico in the Bear Creek drainage. As the crow flies not far from Durango so that smoke is likely affecting us as well.

Thanks for sharing! I know the fire fighters are putting in a tremendous effort. Hopefully, they can keep it contained without any damage to structures. I also hope they can get the new fire under control quickly.

Smoke is very dense in Durango from this fire, all the way to the NM border and beyond and to the west to Pagosa Springs. I urge people with any respiratory or cardiac conditions, COPD, asthma, the very young and the old to avoid the area. The fire is growing and another one started about 10 miles away to the west. The train is not running, the highway 550 to the north is opened only sporadically, one lane, with law enforcement pilot car escort. The river is very low due to basically no snow fall this past winter.Thousands of people have been evacuated and more are under pre evacuation. Heavy smoke warnings have been posted and people are advised to stay inside with the windows closed, if its not too hot. Its not a good time to be here, no matter you are hearing from the tourist board
