Hi, i need some help deciding where to go. My partner and I will hopefully be heading to NYC later this year for Christmas. However, for Christmas Eve and Day, I was hoping to get out of NYC and head to a ski resort that's within easy driving distance (6-8 hours maximum driving) and stay for a couple of nights. Can someone recommend somewhere that's fun and good to go for Christmas? Someone on my forum recommended that I post on Forums in some other states to see what the locals can recommend.
When i looked around on the net, there were a few places in mind, like the Catskills and another place in MA called Jiminy Peak...
I'm hoping to get away for 2-3 nights just for something a little 'off the beaten track' so to speak and wing it a little.
I am from Northern Australia, so I have never seen snow nor can I ski! But I'm keen nonetheless. Although most people have said there's not much snow around this time, I don't mind at all. I'd be lucky enough to handle the cold. :)
I have been to NYC before but never driven there and so my other question is about driving during the winter season. I'm quite a confident driver but never driven in winter type conditions. How safe is it to get around and is it possible to get around to any mountain ski resorts with ease (barring any possible snow storms!)? Call me a little naive but I just have no idea!
Thanks for your help and advice in advance
