Tarpon Springs in March

Coming 2nd week in March. I'm very familiar with Clearwater but would like to know anyone's absolute favorites.. Eating place.. Place to shop etc especially any hidden gems in Tarpon. Also since I've never been in March what to expect weather wise.. Crowds or any special events happening. Thanks!

The area near the sponge docks has plenty of unique shops and usually live music. I find Replay Museum to be fun. Dimitiri's is always good for food and Tarpon Tavern. I love Tarpon Springs, it has a small town and charming feel to it. There will probably be a decent crowd but nothing too crazy.

PGA Tour event (Valspar Open) will be taking place the March 8th thru the 11th, just south in Palm Harbor.

Like mel mentioned above, the Sponge Docks have a wide variety of restaurants (but tend to veer PRIMARILY towards Greek fare). Also, go a few blocks south of the Sponge Docks and you'll find St. Nicholas Cathedral (look for the BIG DOME). Magnificent icons and a very sensory experience.

Lots of cute little shops (some that offer antiques) on the side streets as well ... but it's a day or two at most.

Beyond that (and we tried it), you'll find lack of things to do.

Enjoy!

How long does the Jolly Trolley take from the pier at Clearwater Beach to Tarpon Springs?
