Wow 24 years in business ... I feel old. I remember when the complex was being built.
Lots of happy memories .... crazy the place was always busy when I was there.Edited: 13 June 2017, 22:05
The good news is ...
Marco Review, the local publication ...
It will reopen as "Salty Dog" of Marco Island. It will be owned by owners of local bar/restaurants.
I believe the intention is to reopen as bar with a more upscale look and feel than the closed Rookies.
Do you know when the Salty Dog will open? We will be staying on Marco from 15th December until 4th January and wonder if Sean plans to open soon.
Ate at Salty Dog today for the first time. We had eaten at Rookies many times over our 14 years on Marco. Restaurant and bar were terribly understaffed. Sunday afternoon with college basketball and NFL playoffs on TV. Only had one bartender, one waitress, and one guy trying to wait tables while helping behind the bar. There were 9 of us for lunch. Took us an hour before we got drinks and could order food. However, once we finally got food it was delicious. Incredibly better than Rookies old “deep fried menu”. Hopefully Shaun and Jamie will figure out their busy times and staff better. We will be back to give it another go. New decor is very trendy and a big step up from the old heavy wood Rookies. Nice job Shea’s!!!
I stopped in over Christmas 2017 ... agreed trendy and modern ... not like the old Rookies, still lots of TVs ... it has open outdoor bar area ... TVs literally outdoor on the walls for better weather days.
New Upscale Modern ... open concept ... all light colors .. it looks more like a restaurant than a bar... except for all the TVs on the walls.
Ate there over Christmas. Food really good!
It’s officially Shea’s Salty Dog
