Driving from Tampa to Naples

We're flying in and out of Tampa next week for our stay in Naples as we were unable to get decent flights from Denver to anywhere closer. Google maps estimates the drive to take over 2 hours. Does this seem accurate to those who've done this drive? Any current road issues we should be trying to avoid?

Thanks!

From my experience, it will probably be closer to three hours. It's a very easy drive straight down I-275 to I-75; the only drawback is you have to drive across the Sunshine Skyway, a crazy scary bridge, so if you have any amount of bridge anxiety, be prepared!! There is an alternate route if you want to avoid it, but it will take a bit longer.

The time is 2.5 to 3 hours. There is construction along I-75 near Sarasota that causes slowing of traffic and also between Punta Gorda & Ft. Myers (if I remember correctly, just drove it 2 weeks ago).

You don't have to go over the Sunshine skyway bridge, you can take I-275 north through Tampa, then Hwy 60 east to get to I-75 south to Naples.

It is two hours to Ft Myers. It would be closer 3 to get to the beach in Naples.

I would look at Ft. Myers 1st and Ft Lauderdale 2nd.

Thanks everyone! We've already got flights but just wanted to make sure the time estimates I saw for the drive were accurate. Looking forward to some warm weather & beach time!!

To avoid the toll bridge 275 / 19

take 275 east towards Orlando

then take 75 south to Naples.

Let me add a detail to avoid the Sunshine Skyway bridge.

Take I-275 (northbound), then take I-4 (eastbound), to I-75 (southbound) to Naples.

I did give alternate directions in my previous message (I-275 N, Rt 60 E, I-75 S), these will allow avoiding the I-4 section, which adds a little mileage, but using I-4 is probably easier for someone from out of town to follow.

Sure hope the info above makes sense.
