beach trip with family

We are looking to visit the area in May. We want to be on a beach that is good for swimming, some shelling, family (kids 9-18). We will be coming from visiting the Keys but I understand they don't really have beaches or really kid friendly places to swim. I was wondering if anyone is familiar with one of these area's or homes?

Thanks for any input you may have.

my favorite beach in the area is Delnor Wiggins Pass State park. has parking right behind the beach's treeline. indoor bathrooms. fantastic place for sunsets.

Others will say Barefoot Beach (not a bad choice).

We spend most of our summers on Marco Island, so I can tell you about Isles of Capri (3rd on your list). It is a SMALL town/village located between Marco Island and Naples. There are some really good restaurants down there, but no actual beach access. You can easily drive over to Marco Island or even drive to Naples, where you will pay $8 per day in parking. Both Marco Island and Naples have wonderful beaches! If you are wanting a place where you can walk to the beach, you won't get it in Isles of Capri, but it is very quaint & has a beachy feel - we like it there, but we STAY near the beach on Marco. We spend time in the keys also, it's a great combination!!

I would cross Isles of Capri off the list - nice place, but it just doesn't meet your criteria. Bonita property looks good - right on the beach so really convenient especially with kids - it's just up from Barefoot beach which regularly makes it high on the list of best beaches - totally unspoilt and as nature intended. Easy drive to the 41 to head down to Naples, up to Coconut Point (for shopping) etc. Naples Park could be worth investigating further - nice beaches and close to Mercato for shops/restaurants - you might want to see if anyone has an opinion on the exact location of the property . Sorry can't help with Fort Myers Beach property. Good luck with your search!

Out of the 4 you listed, I would pick the 1st - Bonita Beach property as most closely matching your criteria.

I agree with the others re Isles of Capri - skip it.

I am staying in Naples Park right now, if I get a chance, I will look for the property you listed here. FYI. The 800 block in Naples Park is closest to Rte 41, so can often be near commercial properties and somewhat seedy. Not every 800 block, but you need to be careful.

I would go for the Bonita property with beach access right there, although we are enjoying Naples Park. We like being so close to lots of places to go out to eat.

Thanks everyone. Your advice has been quite helpful. It can be hard to know what to plan for a vacation when you have never been to a place before.
