Oh, where to go???

My husband and I are planning a Florida trip early April. To be honest, ALL of Florida looks good to me right now. But, alas, must pick one location....Looking at St. Augustine, St. Pete, and Naples. We are 50 (gasp, that sounds sooo old) enjoy a quieter atmosphere, just relaxing in the outdoors reading, shopping around local areas, doing tours, just very low key. Would prefer to arrive somewhere and never get in my car again. NOT super into nature, snorkeling, hiking, etc. Basically eating, relaxing, browsing, and drinking beer!!! As an example, LOVED our Carmel, California trip last year. Would also prefer not longer than a 2 hour drive to the airport. Really, really appreciate your help, any other places that I did not mention are fine as well. Work really hard all year, and want the pick the place that beet suits us. Will probably pick a VRBO to stay in, unless you have a better idea. We like our privacy and having a kitchen. Okay, that was very long, THANKS!!

Early April anywhere near the beach in Florida will be packed with spring breakers and snow birds/tourists. Most "quiet" locations are tucked away beach places that will probably be a little crazy that time of year. St. Augustine probably won't have many spring breakers, but still gets a little touristy. Downtown St Petersburg might have what you want. The city is all within walking/bus/trolley distance to most hotels. Near the water, but not overrun with college kids. Museums, shopping, tons of restaurants and plenty of places to drink beer. Can spend nice days out for a walk, shop, hit the Pier and if it rains, there are plenty of great museums to visit. And just an hour or less if you want to visit Tampa/Ybor City or the gulf beaches.

Those places are like at 3 of the 4 corners of Florida. Which airport do you prefer? For St. Aug it would be Jacksonville or Orlando, for St. Pete it would be Tampa or St. Petersburg, and for Naples it would be Ft. Myers airport.

I haven't been to Naples but know Carmet well. St. Augustine is very nice in the Old Town and fort. I think you'd love them. I have heard great things of Naples. I assume you have posted this in the Naples too. St. Petersburg will have more of a big city feel.
