Santa Rosa Beach

What is the overall feel of Santa Rosa Beach? We are now in Destin, which is filled with high-rises. We just spent a half day in Rosemary Beach, which has inns and hotels, but has a much more European feel. We prefer the latter. What about Santa Rosa? Where does it fall in the scale of high-rises on one hand to smaller inns and hotels on the other?

It’s laid back- no high rises. You drove through it if you want to Rosemary Beach. Check out Blue Mountain, Grayton and Watercolor.

Thank you. That’s good to know. I guess I must not have been paying attention as we drove through S.R. Beach. I do remember Watercolor, though.

Santa Rosa Beach is a confusing designation because it is both a beach neighborhood along 30A and a postal city designation for the 32459 zip code, which encompasses 98 and scenic 30A from just east of the Hilton Sandestin to Deer Lake state park in Seagrove Beach.

As a zip code, it includes Blue Mountain Beach, SRB, Grayton Beach, Watercolor, Seaside, Seagrove Beach. As a beach town/neighborhood, it is on 30A between Gulf Place and Blue Mountain Beach.

As a neighborhood, SRB is one of the longer standing ones along 30A and has a mix of more recent developments and older, more established buildings. It's not a planned development like Seadside, Watercolor, or Rosemary which have a strict architectural style. It's a more organically developed collection of low rise condos, townhouses, and houses with some restaurants and shops thrown in. With the exception of 2 condo buildings along 30A, nothing is over 4 stories or 50 feet high, including in SRB.

Also since moving here over 2 years ago you won’t find the congestion of traffic that we experience when around Destin, we are close to the beach and off 393 and love it in this area, 98 and 30A are easy to travel most of the time plus a lot of great places to eat, from late March to September you can expect heavier traffic and more tourists but this area doesn’t have the high rises of Destin nor the traffic or endless lines of umbrellas
