Tugs Pub at Robinsons Wharf just across the swing bridge on Southport Island seems to be a pretty happening place, especially on Friday nights when they have live music.

There are good happy hour prices at Kaler's, although I don't know how wide their beer selection is.

harborfields: We'll have to check out Tugs Pub. :-)

Not sure Tug's Pub has a really wide beer selection either, but speaking of beer, there is the Boothbay Craft Brewery: http://boothbaycraftbrewery.com/ and they sponsor an annual "Craft Beer comes to Boothbay" event, this year scheduled for July 14: …boothbayharbor.com/Events/details/2nd-annua…

Thistle Inn has a nice little pub with 10 beers on tap, but Happy Hour is only from 5 to 6pm and only in the off-season (until May 18th).

We were in Southport for the July 4th week and saw an ad in the paper for Live Irish Music on Tuesday nights. We took a chance on "bar food" to hear the music. What a surprise. The food was great and far more interesting than typical bar fare. Crab cakes and Crab Rangoon starters were excellent and the main course of haddock over Alfredo linguini even better. They had a nice selection of domestic and imported beer. Oh yeah, the music...an impromptu performance of apparent friends with new faces showing up and others leaving throughout the night. Exactly like you see in Ireland's pubs. Music was mostly instrumental with occasional vocals from a woman soprano with a beautiful lilting voice. Not over-loud and wall shaking, just delightful sounds.
