Thinking of heading down to Kent Island for a few days between Christmas and New Years this year. Is there anything to do that time of year or is everything closed up??
Kent Island's charm really hinges on enjoying the water-based activities in summer and the fringe seasons. The restaurants and mostly non-descript chain retail along Rt. 50 will likely be open, as will a few restaurants on the water in Stevensville. But other than that, there's not a whole lot going on over the winter.
That's not to say it's a poor choice, particularly if budget is an issue and you've found a bargain place to stay. It can serve as good base of operations for daytrips to places like Annapolis, St. Michaels and Chestertown, all of which will be fully decked out for the holidays and are less than 45 minutes away.
