Does this ferry/rental car plan work?

We're planning to take the fast ferry from Boston to Provincetown, and then to rent a car at the Provincetown Airport, for a quick weekend trip. From what I've pieced together from their website and this TA forum, car pick up and drop off is at the airport, and it sounds like Enterprise Rental will pick up customers from the ferry and bring to airport rental site - is this accurate? Thanks!!!

they do not keep a lot of cars on Ptown. Be sure to reserve in advance.

Maybe. P'town's airport is a small municipal airport with no commercial traffic, so the cost of a car per day will likely be higher than in locations where there is competition. You may also have to pay a huge drop-off fee if you do not return the car to the same location. But, to your question. Yes, Enterprise will pick you up!

Since you're right here in Boston, why wouldn't you just call Enterprise?

A small correction: Provincetown Airport is served by commercial traffic, Cape Air and Jet Blue.

Right to what Alanm has said. You can try to book a car for Provincetown online first and then call them if you need to. This is a situation that they are used to and will have a solution for you. Have fun.

Enterprise.com comes up with a Provincetown airport option. I didn't move down the process for a reservation but it does seem that they can accommodate you there.

The simplest thing for you would be to rent the car at your nearnest Boston location, and return it there. No drop off fees.

But if you choose to arrange for the Boston-Provincetown round ferry trip ferry, you should consider calling Enterprise - the Orleans office, at (508) 255-2997; not the 800 number, the Boston, or Provincetown locations.

What about just making the reservation online Clams? Do you advise against that?

Renting cars from small airport locations is very risky . Reserving a vehicle basically entitles you to nothing . You'll get a car if they have one but it may not be anything like what you reserved. If you don't like it they basically tell you to pound sand.

Gee, I never had that kind of poor service with Enterprise. Alamo or Thrifty wouldn't be a surprise though.
