USA Today has nominated Lake Charlevoix for one of the most beautiful lakes in America. Now we have a chance to vote.
Well, heck I'd vote for that. Done. Thanks for sharing the link with us, N!
Though Tahoe is as beautiful....;)
Have you done your homework yet?? :)Edited: 19 July 2012, 01:39
Yes, indeed! It is the most beautiful on earth, imho! I've cast my vote!
Lake Charlevoix finished second to Lake Tahoe in the voting. Not too shabby.
Not too shabby at all....but....I wish Lake Charlevoix had won!
2nd out of all those lakes to vote for is wonderful. Since we had the SBD win last year (for another contest ), and Grand Marais won 2 years ago (for money to go towards their new harbor), 2nd is not bad for Lake Charlevoix. Of course, hands down, we have the best MITTEN in the entire world. :)
I was just there last weekend. The lake might be nice, but the town overall has a terrible cuisine scene, and the main beach area is terrible, with a huge concrete plant off the coast in the horizon, who wants to see that on a beach vacation.
It was one my least favorite parts of Michigan actually, and have no desire to return. Leelanua and Harbor Springs are much better. Heck, even Saugatuck has a better downtown and food scene, bars/nightlife.
Ut oh somebody hold moms back. Lol.
LOL, Rono. That thought crossed my mind, and I am sure you are keeping mum on the subject, too...just sayin'!!
I just dropped my daughter off at college. I will respond soon. I am curious about where you ate and how long you stayed in the Charlevoix area. Did you visit Boyne City? Ellsworth? For dining...I will admit that the shopping in Charlevoix is more transient than it once was but it has many wonderful 4 and some 5 star dining options... One must simply research prior to departure...inquiring minds want to know about your subpar dining choices...
