water skiing on lake charlevoix

Realistically, how is the water skiing on lake Charlevoix. Will there be more days of rough water or do you actually see smooth water?

The lake is 13+ miles long and has many different charcteristics (depending on where you are)

Also, it depends on ...

Time of year (historically July & Aug. are calmest).

Time of day - if you ski in the early morning (6 to 8 am), the winds are calmer and there are far fewer people on the lake.

Where on the lake you are skiing - N. Arm, S. Arm, near a town (C.V., B. City, E. Jordan, etc. ... near a state park or condo complex, etc. AND local topography.

It usually calms in the evening too, but there is more boat traffic than in the AM, and leftover waves (from wind & boats} makes it generally "rougher" in the PM. Bottom line ... get on the lake by 6 am and you'll have some calm water.

I love waterskiing on Lake Charlevoix! We usually ski on the South Arm. The middle of the main lake can get rough but you just need to head your boat to calmer waters...

Normally you'll find better water skiing on the South Arm, as the Lake here tends to have smaller waves and normally less traffic.
