tip about casino

Hi, i went to detroit in april to see the red wings new home. We went to Greektown casino, it was soooooo smokey into it that i left 15 minutes after. I want to go to Las Vegas since last fall, but with what ive experienced at Greektown, I wonder if smoke is so bad in Vegas casino or it is more acceptable ? ( for those who went to Las Vegas )

Back before Michigan banned smoking everywhere except the three casions, I never noticed the smoke in them since they were 100x better than most bars and restaurants. Now eight years later I do notice it, but don't find it overly obnoxious.

Vegas will be similar or worse depending on the casino. The higher end places have great air filtration, but they can only do so much if the guy at the table next to you is smoking a cheap cigar.

Most casinos do have non smoking areas. At Greektown it is over by the people mover stop.

I've been to Vegas about 20 times, most recently last month.

Yes there is smoke in the casinos, however, the casinos are large, use pretty good filtration and you can always find a spot where the smoke won't be bad at all.

What you may notice more in some places is the scent of marijuana now that it is legal in Nevada.

Greektown I find the worst out the three casinos in Detroit for smoke. You should of tried MGM Detroit. I find it the best and most like a casino in Vegas on the strip. Smoke is pretty bad on Freemont St in downtown Vegas since they are smaller casinos. I'm so glad Caesars Windsor is finally back open - it is non-smoking there.

Thanks for tip and yeah i wont go to Freemont because I think, like you said, that they are really old and smokey. I think I am just gonna bring a mask that counter smoke. Any further comment would still be appreciated :D.

As another poster commented, the newer / higher end Las Vegas casinos will offer the best atmospheres in terms of smokiness. I would recommend Aria, Palazzo, Wynn and Encore casinos. Mandarian Oriental and Vdara are on strip hotels that lack casinos, so will also offer a very clean air environment.
