Red Lodge, MT

We will be driving to Red Lodge next week for a wedding. We have 3 free days. What would be the best use of our time. Would like to go rafting, BearTooth Highway and see some of Yellowstone. Is that at all possible to do in 3 days. The 1st and 3rd night we have reservations in Red Lodge. 2nd night is open.

You might consider doing night 2 in Gardiner. You could drive Beartooth during the day, enter Yellowstone at the NE entrance. Drive thru Lamar Valley looking for wildlife then at Tower Junction head south to Canyon over Dunraven Pass. You could do some of the overlooks along the South and North rim drives (both were very busy when I was there in June), then head over to Norris. Depending on how your time is running, stop at Norris and walk Back Basin or Porcelain Basin. Head north to Mammoth (road construction along here). Overnight in Gardiner

AM of Day 3, see the Lower Terraces at Mammoth, drive the Upper Terraces. Return to Red Lodge either by heading back out the NE entrance and driving Beartooth again OR heading north from Gardiner thru the Paradise Valley to Livingston, east on I90 to Columbus, then take the back roads via Roscoe to Red Lodge.

Here is a link to the hotels in Gardiner. Make sure they are sorted by Ranking not some stupid system TA might come up with like *Just for you*. (How do they know what I'm looking for??)

You might also be able to snag a vacancy at Mammoth. Use only Xanterra to book. Do NOT use a 3rd party booker.

Depending on how much driving you wanted to do on Day 3, you could also consider staying overnight at Canyon and heading out either way listed above for Day 3.
