The sun is shining and the lake is crystal clear and full! It's a great time to enjoy the beauty of Lake Tahoe!
With that, bear activity is up this year in Incline Village for many reasons. Improper trash containment and outdoor attractants have played a significant role.
If you are heading to Tahoe this summer (or are already here) please read below on how to properly secure your trash. The bears are a magical piece of our mountains but they need to work for their food in the forest, not in our trash. Easy access to our garbage will put them in a dangerous situation. A fed bear really is a dead bear in Nevada.
Secure ALL trash in a bear-proof container (even around town)
If you are renting, please ask your homeowner how to securely store all refuse until garbage day
Remove ALL food from cars. Keep windows and doors locked.
Keep home windows and doors locked.
Remove all outdoor attractants - dirty grills, unsecured garbage, pet food, etc
Please do your part to keep our wildlife safe. We look forward to seeing you in our magical community soon!
