Falls

Hi,

I am looking into seeing as many of the halls as we can. When would you say is the best time to go? End of July or end of August? Do you think a 4 day trip would be sufficient?

Is the William Henry close enough/driving distance to the falls? Is there swimming at buttermilk falls?

Editing to add I am interested in the below.

Taughannock Falls

Buttermilk Falls

Robert Treman Falls

Thanks!

Either month is good though coming in spring or fall would probably mean more water flow in the falls.

Four days is great.

The William Henry is downtown; getting to the falls at the state parks you want to visit is easy.

There is swimming at buttermilk falls but I recommend the swimming area at Robert Treman.

Add Ithaca Falls to your list. It isn't in a state park but is spectacular. There's a parking area and walking path for people to use.

Watkins Glen should be on your list.

Also, drive by the historic Shequaga Falls in Montour Falls (10 minutes from Watkins)

And as you come down Seneca Lake on Rt 14, you will drive by the beautiful Hector Falls

July August might be the driest...if you want to see any/all of these falls in the majesty, the late spring (May/June) can be spectacular. Come in the summer and sometimes you get a dripping waterfall versus a rage...Anytime is fun.

Thank you everybody! Sounds like the spring is better for the water flow.

Just be aware the water is very cold if you plan to swim.
