Fire damage along route of Great Smoky Mtn Railroad?

Hi, we took the Bryson City to NOC trip last Fall one week before the fire that damaged Gatlinburg and burned the NOC. Can anyone tell me what the area will look like from the trains' various routes this year? Ie, how much desolation would we see? We'd like to go again but maybe take a different train ride. Thanks for any advice.

I didn't get out that way when we were up there so not sure what kind of damage they had out at the NOC. You might want to ask this on the GSMNP, Tennessee forum to see if somewhere on there has been over that way. .

There was no damage at NOC. They did lay some backfires along US 19/74 but only up a few feet. Everything looks just fine now. There was no fire along the tracks either. The Dillsboro run is a nice trip if you have already ridden the Nantahala Excursion.
